Cookie Policy
YOBY uses cookies carefully: technical cookies for Ghost CMS, login and game features, consent cookies for preferences, and privacy-friendly Matomo statistics without identifying visitors.
Last updated: July, 7th 2026
This Cookie Policy explains how YOBY uses cookies and similar technologies on yoby.fun, in the YOBY game experience and in related services.
We use cookies carefully. Some are needed to make the website, login, security and family pond work. Some may be used to remember your preferences or your cookie choices. Some may be set by selected third-party services, such as our cookie banner provider, payment providers or embedded tools.
YOBY uses Matomo in privacy mode. We do not use Matomo to collect visitor-level data, identify visitors, build profiles or track people across websites.
Cookies should not be mysterious crumbs in the reeds. This page explains what they are, why we use them and how you can manage them.
1. Who we are
YOBY is operated by:

2. What cookies are
Cookies are small text files stored on your device when you visit a website.
They help a website remember information about your visit, such as whether you are logged in, your preferences, your cookie choices or technical information needed to keep the service working.
Similar technologies may include:
- local storage
- session storage
- pixels
- device identifiers
- SDK storage
- analytics tags
In this policy, when we say “cookies”, we also refer to these similar technologies.
3. How YOBY uses cookies
YOBY uses cookies and similar technologies for a limited number of purposes:
- Strictly necessary cookies
These make the website, login, security, Ghost CMS features and game features work. - Functional cookies
These remember preferences such as language, cookie choices or interface settings. - Privacy-friendly analytics
We use Matomo in privacy mode to understand general website usage through aggregate statistics. We do not collect visitor-level analytics data. - Third-party cookies
These may be set by selected external providers, such as Google cookie consent tools, payment providers, embedded content or other services we integrate.
We do not use cookies to sell children’s data.
We do not use advertising inside the YOBY game experience.
We do not use Matomo to identify visitors.
4. Strictly necessary cookies
These cookies are required for YOBY to work.
They may be used for:
- keeping you logged in
- managing your session
- protecting forms and requests
- remembering cookie consent choices
- securing the website
- enabling Ghost CMS membership features
- enabling family account access
- keeping the game or interactive world technically functional
Without these cookies, parts of YOBY may not work properly.
For example, if you disable strictly necessary cookies, you may not be able to sign in, start a family pond or use some game features.
5. Ghost CMS cookies
The YOBY website is built on Ghost CMS.
Ghost may use technical cookies for:
- member login
- session management
- private or restricted areas
- account authentication
- security
These cookies are not used by YOBY for advertising.
Depending on the exact Ghost configuration, cookies may include membership or session cookies such as:
| Cookie / storage type | Purpose | Type |
|---|---|---|
| Ghost member/session cookies | Login, membership and account access | Strictly necessary |
| Ghost authentication cookies | Security and session validation | Strictly necessary |
| Ghost private mode cookies, if enabled | Access to restricted areas | Strictly necessary |
The exact cookie names may change depending on the Ghost version and configuration.
6. YOBY game and app storage
The YOBY game or interactive world may use cookies, local storage or session storage to make the experience work.
These may be used to remember technical information such as:
- game session state
- selected character or duck
- language or interface preferences
- device/browser compatibility settings
- progress display
- temporary game state
- security or anti-abuse information
Some of this storage may be essential for the game to function.
We try to keep this storage limited to what is needed to provide a safe and smooth YOBY experience.
The pond needs a few pebbles to remember where the bridge is. Not a notebook on every visitor.
7. Cookie banner and consent management
YOBY uses a cookie banner to collect and manage cookie preferences.
The banner may use cookies or similar technologies to remember your choices, such as whether you accepted, rejected or customised optional cookies.
YOBY currently uses Google’s cookie consent tools for the cookie banner and consent management.
Depending on the configuration, Google consent tools may communicate your choices to Google tags or other services so that they can adjust their behaviour based on your consent.
You can change your cookie choices at any time through the cookie settings link or banner controls, where available.
8. Matomo privacy-friendly analytics
YOBY uses Matomo in privacy mode.
Matomo helps us understand how the website is performing through aggregate, privacy-friendly statistics.
We may use Matomo to understand general information such as:
- which pages are visited most
- general traffic trends
- broad usage patterns
- technical issues or errors
- whether the website is useful and understandable
We do not use Matomo to identify individual visitors.
We do not collect visitor-level analytics data.
We do not build visitor profiles.
We do not track people across websites.
We do not use Matomo for advertising.
We do not sell analytics data.
Matomo is configured to respect visitor privacy. This may include privacy protections such as IP anonymisation, disabled tracking cookies, reduced data retention or other privacy-enhancing settings.
The goal is simple: we want to know whether the pond path is broken, not who stepped on every stone.
9. Google cookies and consent tools
YOBY may use Google services for cookie consent, tag management, technical measurement or related website functions.
Depending on the services enabled and your consent choices, Google may use cookies or similar technologies for:
- remembering consent choices
- functionality
- security
- service measurement
- fraud prevention
- technical website operation
YOBY does not use advertising inside the child-facing game experience.
If advertising or remarketing tools are ever added to the public website, they will be subject to cookie consent where required by law.
10. Payment cookies
YOBY offers paid plans, payments may be handled by third-party payment providers (STRIPE)
These providers may use cookies or similar technologies to:
- process payments
- prevent fraud
- secure checkout
- remember checkout sessions
- manage subscriptions
- provide invoices or payment confirmations
Payment cookies are usually set by the payment provider and are governed by that provider’s own cookie and privacy policies.
YOBY does not store full payment card details on its own servers.
11. Embedded content and social links
Some YOBY pages may include links or embedded content from third-party platforms, such as social networks, videos, forms, maps or external media.
These third parties may set their own cookies when you interact with their content.
For example, cookies may be set when you:
- open an embedded video
- interact with a social media button
- visit an external platform
- use an embedded form or widget
We try to limit third-party content, especially in areas designed for children.
12. Cookies and children
YOBY is designed for children and families.
For this reason, we aim to minimise cookies and tracking in child-facing areas of the service.
We do not use cookies to build advertising profiles of children.
We do not sell children’s data.
We do not use third-party advertising inside the YOBY game experience.
We do not use Matomo to identify children, parents or visitors.
Some technical cookies or local storage may still be necessary to provide the family pond, account access, safety features and game functionality.
Parents and guardians can manage cookie choices through the cookie banner and browser settings.
13. Cookie categories
Here is a simple overview of the cookie categories we may use.
| Category | Purpose | Consent required? |
|---|---|---|
| Strictly necessary | Website, login, security, Ghost CMS features and game functionality | No, usually required to provide the service |
| Functional | Preferences, language, cookie choices and interface settings | Sometimes, depending on configuration |
| Privacy-friendly analytics | Aggregate Matomo statistics in privacy mode, without identifying visitors | Usually no, if configured without tracking cookies or visitor-level profiling |
| Payment | Checkout, fraud prevention and subscription handling | Usually necessary for payment services |
| Third-party / embedded | External content, social platforms, videos or widgets | Usually yes before activation |
| Advertising | Ads, remarketing or personalised advertising | Not currently used inside the YOBY game experience |
14. How to manage cookies
You can manage cookies in several ways.
Cookie banner
When you first visit YOBY, the cookie banner lets you accept, reject or customise optional cookies, depending on the available options.
Browser settings
You can also block or delete cookies through your browser settings.
Most browsers allow you to:
- delete existing cookies
- block all cookies
- block third-party cookies
- allow cookies only for selected websites
- clear local storage and site data
If you block all cookies, some parts of YOBY may not work correctly.
The ducks may still float. Login may not.
Matomo analytics
Matomo is configured in privacy mode and is not used to identify visitors, collect visitor-level analytics data or build individual profiles.
If we ever change this configuration and introduce non-essential analytics cookies or visitor-level tracking, we will update this Cookie Policy and ask for consent where required.
15. Do Not Track and browser signals
Some browsers may send “Do Not Track” or similar signals.
Because there is no single consistent technical standard for all such signals, YOBY may not respond to every browser signal automatically.
Where required by law or technically supported, we will respect applicable consent choices and privacy controls.
16. Changes to this Cookie Policy
We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time.
If we make important changes, we will update the “Last updated” date and, where appropriate, notify users through the website, cookie banner or email.
